Find out what you'll need to provide

Suitable Proof of Photographic Identification:

  • Current Valid Signed Passport/ Passport Card
  • Current Valid EU/EEA Driving Licence – must contain photograph (Irish Provisional accepted)
  • Current EU National Identity Card

Note: The name on your photographic identification (e.g., the name on your passport) must match the name on your proof of address (e.g., the full name on your gas bill). Note: it cannot be the Irish or any other language version of a name on one form and not the other.

Note: In compliance with the OECD Common Reporting Standard which came into effect on 1st January 2016, Wexford Credit Union Ltd. is required to seek information on the tax residency of all its members. To this effect, all new members must sign a self-certification relating to their tax residency and provide their tax identification number, if resident outside of the Republic of Ireland. Failure to sign this self-certification will mean that we cannot open account for you.  Parent/Legal Guardians sign on behalf of minors.

Verification of Address –
Documents issued to the home address must be dated within the past three months and the issue date visible.

One of the following would suffice:

  • Official documentation issued by the Revenue Commissioners or The Department of Social Protection
  • Local authority documents e.g., refuse collection bill, water charge bill.
  • Account statement from a bank, another credit union, building society, or credit card company
  • Utility bill e.g., electric, gas or cable.
  • Household or motor insurance certificate for a policy currently in date
  • Drivers licence that contains a current address has been issued in the previous three months and is not being used as your proof of identification.

Note: The name on your photographic identification (e.g., the name on your passport) must match the name on your proof of address (e.g., the full name on your gas bill). Note: it cannot be the Irish or any other language version of a name on one form and not the other

A copy of the relevant document should be provided as proof of the PPSN. This document can be issued by the Department of Social and Family Affairs, the Revenue Commissioners, or your employer, which states your PPSN. Examples include a P45, Payslip, or Drug payments scheme card. The Public Services Card, however, cannot be accepted as proof of your PPSN.

Why do we collect Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) Details?

The Return of Payments (Banks, Building Societies, Credit Unions and Savings Banks) Regulations 2008 requires a financial institution to make a return to Revenue of the dividend and interest paid. Financial Institutions, including credit unions must make reasonable efforts to seek Tax Reference Numbers (also known as PPSN) from members, when opening a new account.

Note: When borrowing with us, the requirement to ask for PPSN details also arises. Under the Credit Reporting Act 2013, we are obliged to collect and verify your PPSN for all credit applications of €500 or greater.

If an adult (parent/legal guardian) wishes to open an account for a juvenile, the adult must provide the following at the time of opening the account for the juvenile:

  1. Photographic Identification
  2. Proof of Address

See the above Adult Member Requirements for acceptable documentation.

Please note we can no longer accept the Personal Services Card as proof of Identification or PPS Number.

WE MUST ALSO RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING FOR THE CHILD:

  • Original Birth Certificate or Passport
  • PPS number verified on official documentation
